Biologists KFU offer to cure diseases with stem cells.
Scientists at the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology of KFU use stem cells in treatment. The method was successfully tested on animals. In the future, their technology of tissue and gene therapy has to be a solution for treatment of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and musculoskeletal system diseases. Now scientists go even further: they prove that some cells of liver may also be stem cells, and therefore they can save lives.
Biologists of KFU prepare their response in transplantology
Biologists of Kazan Federal University can offer their version in transplantology. Researchers test a polymeric framework with nanoparticles which can help in restoring of tissues, organs or bones. Experiments with nanoparticles also demonstrated additional features of cells.
Linguists help doctors in diagnosis
Linguists and healthcare professionals (doctors) of Kazan Federal University are working on a project that is supposed to simplify the diagnosis of depression. They jointly developed a questionnaire for diagnosis of functional disorders. The project "clinical and neuro linguistics" is being promoted in the RCH-2 (Republican Clinical Hospital number two). Linguists help to restore speech to patients after stroke.
